Social Media Round Up February 2020

Social Media Round Ups

Happy March!

I've got a bit of a belter of a round up this time so apologies in advance. It's probably due to the fact its been soaking all month and I've chosen not to go out too much to be honest! I hope you've faired well where ever you are. There's quite a few events coming up soon, so do please check out the Events section on my website too. It might just be time to go out and invest in some supportive training and networking, have a look and decide for yourself?

Let's get on with it shall we?

Facebook

Busy ole month for Facebook I must say. I personally must have updated the app at least 5 times this month, so it's not that unsurprising these changes are coming. First up is the Facebook Audience network option which will be removed in April. Will this make a significant different to businesses exposure? I'll be honest I kinda had a bit of "ad blindness" when it came to this on my phone. I found it annoying, so I'm not very surprised its going to be fair. Read on here to learn more from Adweek.

What I have found as a bit of good news though is the latest news about the new Creator Studio Mobile App, shared by Social Media Today. For all content creators this is a bit of good news. It's a fiddly thing to find and manage for beginners when they want to schedule their content and they (Facebook) are slowly but surely separating things out (see below about the IGTV app) it makes sense to do this too.

Google My Business - does the SEO work?

If you've been following my blog for a while now, you'll know I love blogging! It's great for building your authority and for getting found. There is a fair bit of debate currently how useful it is for SEO though. It seems people feel its either good for or not for SEO. Personally I have always seen what a valuable application it is for me. I would love to hear your opinions on the matter though. Have a read of this article and let me know what you think?

SERP SEO

Thanks to Devin Schumacher for his email and introducing me to SERP SEO. They have their own services that can support businesses but what I particularly wanted to highlight was their FREE training at their SEO University! What a valuable resource for business owners. It's easy to get started and you can go at your own pace. If SEO is a bit of a mystery to you then click here to visit their website to learn more.

Scheduling to Google My Business - OneUp

Yet again - this platform is rapidly becoming my favourite platform, now made so much easier because I am now using a very affordable scheduling tool call OneUp. I'm still very new to it so hopefully all goes well. I know its yet another tool I am using but it's all about saving me and hopefully my clients time. Once I know more I'll do a wee review on it. If you already have experience with it, please do let me know your thoughts...

Raw.pics.io

Another new tool for me this month has been this little web app Raw.pics.io, fantastically fast, free and easy to use! I came across it in my social media - so they must have targeted me. Nice one there folks, I am now promoting you for nothing!

The principle is outlined below - taken directly from a Google search:

Resize PNG or any other image in several simple steps:

  1. Open Raw.pics.io resizer by clicking START.
  2. Select PNG file that needs resizing.
  3. Click Save.
  4. Change the image size in pixels age the way you like: by the largest side, by height, or by width. ...
  5. Download resized PNGs where you want.

Livestreaming Tools and Repurposing Tools

Do you ever listen to others on Periscope or Facebook Live? I do. One of my all time favourite people I follow would be Ian Anderson Grey. He runs a regular show promoting people to be more confident on live streams and these days this is a must for entrepreneurs. Hear are two tools that definitely sparked my interest as he was going through them. They are both paid for tools - so you'll need a budget set aside for them.

First up Ian mentioned Streamyard.com. This tool can help you reach your audience by sharing you live on different streams at the same time!

StreamYard is a live streaming studio in your browser. Interview guests, share your screen, and much more. Stream directly to Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and other platforms

Next Ian mentioned this tool - which I have got to say sounds heaven sent for people who produce and curate a lot of content!

By by sounds of it Amy Woods has brought a highly skilled team of people who can repurpose your content for you - depending on your infrastructure. This sounds like a very personal thing for the team to do, so there's no prices on the website but if this is something you might find of interest, then check them out here.

Ads on IGTV?

Well it was going to come at some stage wasn't it? Unfortunately these apps do need paying for and as IGTV is rapidly becoming a new YouTube, they have to behave in the same way. Read the blog from TechCrunch here.

LinkedIn

This more formal of platforms has been really upping their updates of late. Every month there is something changing and frankly it was needed. Now you can pin posts and create a featured one when people visit your feed. This was initially noticed by Dr Julia Bramble and shared here by Digital Information World. However, I don't have it yet so its not rolled out widely yet. Keep your eyes pinned!

Monday Morning Marketing Podcast Episodes

I only realised this month I hadn't shared anywhere on my website that I am now podcasting! Myself and good friend Esther Ocampo of IPA Group started on the 6th of January 2020 and we've been working away in the background doing these weekly 10 odd minute podcasts. We've developed a few happy followers already who say they find them both useful and satisfyingly short. Check out the podcasts here and do let us know your thoughts! Make sure to subscribe (Spotify Link) and please ignore the website! I have some work to do on it! :)
