What an insane month September turned out to be. I have spent most of it out of the office one way or another but enough about that. One thing I have noticed in this round up is there was less to write about than usual - which for me, was a nice change.
Let's get started:
Starting from 5th of September if you run a group you may have noticed a difference. Private groups will still have members. You may notice a jump in engagement because of this change, fingers crossed.
To calculate, just look at the total reach of a post and divide that by your total number of followers, then multiply the result by 100 to get a percentage.
Example: 1,000 reach / 10,000 followers = 0.1 x 100 = 10% organic reach rate. You might look at multiple recent posts and average out if you wish.
Also, here are ENGAGEMENT RATES, as calculated as a percentage of reach. The calculation is total engagement (reactions, shares, comments, etc.) divided by number of posts published, then multiply the result by 100 to get a percentage.
Average Engagement Rates in 2022:
Instagram = 3.35%
Facebook = 1.4% (pretty naff without Ads!)
Yep that's right, its been on the cards for some time but finally they have added it to a small number of Instagram profiles. I'm not entirely sure when it will be rolled out everywhere but keep updating your apps and you might find it. Read more about it here.
The messaging within LinkedIn can be a little unpopular and you can end up having ads, friends and new (odd) people contacting you randomly. LinkedIn are however changing all of that now and are going to make this flow a little better. You will notice a couple of tabs showing up and the messages will be allocated in the right space and hopefully you'll be subjected to less "junk". Read this article to learn more.
You may have noticed this month that you can now add different media to a tweet. You can have a video, GIF and image all mixed up together. It is news but it's just not that exciting. I told you this was a slow month.... Read more here.
I'm not entirely au fait in this area but I believe its fairly important we know about it. These updates impact how we get found in a search and unless we monitor the impact we may slip on to page two which is death to a business a lot of the time. You may also notice an impact on your socials and your ads as well so its a fairly swooping issue. Read the update here. (Sorry about all the pop-ups)
Core updates are designed to improve the quality and relevance of Google's search results by shuffling the search rankings of indexed web pages. Each core update tweaks the formula by which Google ranks web pages. Web pages that ranked high for their target keywords may rank low after a core update.
This may have passed me by a bit apologies! So let's learn about this tool shall we? So now we're all embracing video on Instagram and TikTok, GBP didn't want to miss out either and since September 2021 they have been pushing video. Obviously pretty quietly because I look every, single month to see what's trending...
