Social Media Round Up October 2019

Social Media Round Ups

This Social Media Round Up has been a little rushed this month due to me being out so much but I can assure you the quality is still top notch! This October has been the highlight of the year for me. It was rumoured that the #NWED event ran by Fingal Enterprise was the single, largest female networking event ever held in Ireland and I had the privilege to speak at it this year. I can't thank my friends enough for their support on the day. They gave me a very warm cheer as I stood up and frankly shocked the life out of me by doing it, but that one moment set me up for my talk. My talk was about Mindset, Confidence and Overcoming Imposter Syndrome. I managed to condense my talk from BizExpo earlier on this year to 10 minutes and delivered it with a bit of a giggle throughout. The crowd of 400 entrepreneurs, dignitaries and event team seemed to enjoy it.

It may surprise you, but this talk was the single largest audience I have ever had speaking in front of people on my own. I have spoken in front of a larger audience before, but not on my own, commanding the stage. It was a wonderful opportunity and I am very grateful to Sharon Rossignuolo for giving this wonderful opportunity. Then I spoke a few days later at this years Dublin Women's Inspire Conference as a Silver Sponsor, my last public engagement for the year on Promoting Your Business Online and Measuring for Success. It was a great day and I made a lot of connections. I have had to do a fair bit of follow up in the form of meetings and quotes, so it was well worth putting myself and my business out there. Now let's get on with it shall we!

Twitter

Twitter was a platform I genuinely thought was impossible to master when I first started. The half life of a tweet is ridiculously short and it takes a huge amount of effort to make it work for you. Yet since starting mine and others accounts, I have seen that it really does depend on the persona, the audience and the offering. Sure it does still take a long time but knowledge really is power when it comes to this most transformative of platforms.

This article about Wendys, goes some what into detail on how they have managed to make their brand stand out from the other Quick Service Restaurants and how they have exploited this fast serving machine and made it a sales funnel.

Twitter Won't Ban World Leaders, but they won't allow you to Retweet

It's very much targeted at one world leader I realise this, yet the social media platform have said that they won't ban any world leader. Even if they pose a threat. This is because of their status of course but if they have abused the rules, they will prevent people from retweeting and will only allow you to post a tweet as a comment. Will this curb disinformation or improve relations? Time will tell...

Knowing Your Rates as a Freelancer

By far the hardest thing I have ever had to do is work out my pricing structure. It's evolved over the years, its had to, as I need more tools to manage the workload but its the starting point that's been tough! So when articles like this crop up I always read and digest. So if you're starting out as a Freelancer, check this blog out and see what you come up with.

How to Shake Up Your Marketing in 9 Different Ways

My favourite go-to, Hootsuite shared this blog in the last month about how 9 different brands have brought their USP socially. It's not easy getting a fresh idea, especially if you have a budget or time constraint to be wary of. Check out this blog and see if you can glean any ideas of your own? (Or pinch and modify some of these!)

Facebook Group or Facebook Page?

Firstly, please let me apologise for the annoying pop-up on this link BUT this blog is well worth persevering for. It's a question I am asked a fair bit and this goes some way to explaining my thoughts as it happens. Are you using the right type of Facebook outreach for your brand and audience?

Google My Business

Have you added your business to GMB yet? It truly is an SEO tool! It's a wee bit time consuming to do initially I will be honest with you, but once its set up it prompts you when it needs feeding next which is kind of handy. Today I wanted to share in the ongoing "Facebookation" of GMB which is continuing at full pelt and now you can add a short name to your business listing.
