Check out the updates you need to know to better understand and use your Social Media for business!

Welcome to December

Delighted to get my update out on time this month. Although there have been a lot of changes over the last couple of months they really haven't been very big and haven't been massively impactful to my audience as yet. More on those types of changes coming up early next year!

This month - well the next 2-3 weeks really should be you (and me) getting ready to take time off over the Christmas break - which is very much needed for my family this year. Make sure to plan ahead, make time for your own mental health and for your staff too.

Let's get started:

Facebook

Professional Mode Rolled Out Globally

This snazzy little tool allows you to see stats and if you're in a position to do it, monetise your personal Facebook profile. You would need to be an avid content curator / creator to make it worth while and when reading the blog on the update at the end of October - its almost like a Group function as you can assign mods as well. I can't talk about it great detail at this time as I currently don't have. It could be I don't create a lot of video or Reels on my pages and so its not become unlocked, but that's just speculation on my part. If you do have it and you're like me (not doing lots of videos), please let me know so I can update my knowledge!

Instagram

Add Music to Your Still Images

Nice little touch coming out this month, where you can access permission free access to music for a photo/picture you're intending to post / schedule. Check out the article here and learn more about it.

Schedule Posts in Instagram App

It's been possible for a long time to schedule posts to Instagram within Business Suite on the app or on your laptop, however, now Instagram are rolling out the facility to do it in app on Instagram. Maybe this is for the Business Suite averse? Not entirely sure, but it's coming soon to your updates. Keep updating regularly!

LinkedIn

You can now Schedule Posts and Videos IN / ON LinkedIn

Yes, I was as surprised as you were when realising! Finally LinkedIn have allowed it's own functionality and you can schedule things directly in the feed on your laptop and currently only on Android but I'm sure that will change soon. I did schedule one text post when I realised but then couldn't see where it went?? So until I find out - or indeed you do, make sure to spell check and really think when and what time you want the post to go up because I can't see where to remove or update it! Have a read of this post that outlines how it works, apologies for all the pop ups!

Twitter

Slow Car Crash in Motion

I think I'll leave this alone for a bit... but do watch this space.

TikTok

Want to Buy Directly from TikTok? Soon you can

So they can compete with the likes of Amazon and shorten the entire process of ads and sales, TikTok are currently testing an ecommerce feature in the US. However, it was previously only available in the UK and 7 countries in south east Asia. (Seems wildly specific..). So let's hope in the new year this will be made available in Europe and beyond. Read this rather brief post about it.

Google Business Profile

Now you can Only Update in Google Search (ish)

Its been coming for some time but now you are forced to update your Google Business Profile from Google Search. I have however personally still got the option to post into the nine buttons in the top right of a Google Home page when logged in of course. I just did it myself BUT it still wanted me to Google search. I'm sure this will change by the new year though. Read more about this update here.

Google SEO

Learn about the difference between SEO and PPC with this blog from Google. I have to say it's becoming a frequently asked question as my audience is becoming more au fait with the inevitability of having to pay-to-play for promotion.

The guys at Wordstream are one of my favourite writers on the topic and I'm sure you'll find this blog explaining the Google SEO Guide useful.
