This February has been a busy one! Fortunately I managed to get a little ahead in January as it was a wee bit quieter than usual for me. However this month I been busy preparing for my trip to Riga, Latvia for this years Techchill. It was another very successful, enjoyable event! Now, let us begin...

Facebook

Happy 15th Birthday Facebook!

Can you believe its been 15 years? My kids are 11 and 8 now and have never known a world without Facebook. It's been nothing short of a revolution having Facebook in our everyday lives. Facebook has transformed relationships, insurance and even politics. When we first started using it, it was being primarily used by the younger kids. Now grown ups have changed it from Like and Share of Puppies and Breakfast to Business.

As of December 31, 2018 there was 35,587 employees and going by the Facebook statistics there were 1.52 billion daily active users on Facebook on average for December 2018. It seems for ALL the security issues and bad press they have been having, it's not been too disruptive to Facebook and its usage.

Instagram Messaging

During the past month Facebook announced that Facebook Page Admins will soon be able to receive and respond to Instagram DMs from their Facebook Page Inbox. This will be on desktop and also on mobile via the Pages Manager app. (This feature will be rolled out in the coming weeks to businesses in Brazil and the US.) Messenger Unsend

Facebook is launching the Messenger unsend button! You'll have up to ten minutes to remove a message after it's sent. The feature works when you message one person or a group.Simply tap on the message you want to remove and select the option to "Remove for Everyone". The removed message will be replaced by text alerting recipient(s) in the conversation that the message was removed. This has started being rolled out but probably won't be in Ireland for a while.

Twitter Advanced Search

Back in my day...ahem...a couple of years ago.. I personally think that Twitter Search was considerably easier. A lot of the platforms out there are intuitive, that's what makes them successful. However, I think personally that Twitter Advancerd search is one of the least intuitive platforms out there at the moment out of the recognised top four business platforms.

Do you know how to find the Advanced search in Twitter? The best person to ask is of course Twitter.

Google+ Being Sunseted

A lot of people would have received this message below recently. Time is short!"

You've received this email because you have a consumer (personal) Google+ account or you manage a Google+ page."

In December 2018, Google announced their decision to shut down Google+ for consumers in April 2019 due to low usage and challenges involved in maintaining a successful product that meets consumers' expectations.

From April, Google will be deleting accounts so to ensure your images and data are protected, you can download and save your content. Note that photos and videos backed up in Google Photos will not be deleted.
