Social Media Round Ups

Welcome to August!

Wow, that was one really slow month and yet I'm still massively behind. OK, so this is fortunately yet another smaller post - simply because I think Facebook has let their staff off for a few weeks. I could also do with a wee break on the old updates too.

The changes mentioned here are fabulously useful, so get a cuppa and read on....

Facebook

Facebook Ads - Get Out of the Learning Phase faster

The Social Media bible that most Marketers use would be the Social Media Examiner. This fabulous resource is well worth subscribing to and checking back on. This particular post about getting out of the learning phase faster is very useful f you find you are getting stuck there more frequently! Have a read of the post here.

Facebook Groups Updates

It's not been rolled out completely here yet in Ireland but coming very soon you will be able to send an automatic invite to your Page followers to join your linked-to-your-page group.

Useful to know: if you allow people to join by asking questions then unfortunately, any auto-invited group members bypass those questions.

Have you seen the Group Experts button?  It's been around since last month on my groups but more have sprung up over the last month. You can opt to suggest them and they approve. It just means these more loyal members get recognition for it. Although their not Moderators you can do Q & A's with them.

Instagram

Security Checks

Has your Instagram been hacked before? Unfortunately its been such an issue that now if your account is hacked you get a prompt on re-entry and they let you know and they will ask if you want to do a security check. In the coming weeks and months they'll also be looking at organising two factor authentication as well. About time really! Learn ore about this update here.

Story Drafts

You will all by now have the option to save a story draft in Instagram. It was announced in March of this year but extended globally in July. This is such a handy thing to do - you can set aside a half day let's say of "story creation" and have all the props, lighting etc in place to plan ahead and create stories for the week or month. It's been widely available in other apps for ages - so it's nice to have this addition. Learn more here.

Twitter

Bye Bye Fleets

I'm sure its no loss to you but Twitter is getting shot of fleets as of July 2021. Mainly down to low usage and besides - Spaces has done a lot better than they expected. Why waste the bandwidth right?  Check out this post to learn more.

Up or Down Vote

What could possibly go wrong here I wonder? For some odd reason Twitter thought getting rid of Fleets, starting Spaces and adding this option would be a good idea?? Two out of three ain't bad I suppose. I suppose a "dislike" button has been requested for a VERY long time now but I'm sure they weren't thinking of something like this. What are you thoughts on this potential update?  Only a small section of people have been given access thus far.

Google My Business

Google Suspension Issues?

As this is still a very unused platform by so many businesses I was surprised to see this blog post BUT impressed as it was so useful. If you know someone who is having issues or indeed you are, check this out! A Small Business Guide to Resolving a Google My Business Suspension.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn Training

LinkedIn Learning has been around for a while now but its only been adopted by a wider audience since the 2nd(ish) lockdown last year. Well they are making regular overhauls and adding more training on an ongoing basis. These paid for training tools are very useful for a business person who wants to get as much out of career skills without becoming a graduate. If you want to learn more about the training available then click here to see more detail.

Post Your Website Blog on LinkedIn

This actually makes a lot of sense. In my opinion, everything must originate from your website and then shared from there to socials. What this post on Forbes is suggesting however is pretty much you abandon all hope of people reading your blog on there and putting your blog on an already established platform of LinkedIn.

While I do agree people don't come to my website read my blogs directly, it's a valuable SEO tool to help me get found in search. However what the writer didn't seem to mention is that if you have an email list you can share these very blogs directly to people who said they wanted them in the first place.

Getting people from your socials back to your website is the best way to convert. Have you started sharing your website content everywhere??

Supported Digital Marketing Strategy Training

If you're looking to create a strategy for your social media and overall digital marketing and would like to know how to do this by yourself for your own business or for the company you work for, then you maybe interested in doing this training that I offer.

I help you create it at a pace you set, filling in the gaps in your knowledge along the way. You'll be given work to do between the sessions that you can manage and that won't be overly disruptive to your everyday workload.

This will give you accountability and you can contact me anytime during the training if you have any questions that crop up between sessions.

September is traditionally a very busy time of year for me and more so since I started providing this training last year. I have regular time slots to offer this training and it can run either in 1 month, 6 weeks or even 12 weeks if you prefer! I can give you the dates to fit around both our schedules from day one so you know this in advance. If you would like to learn more about what this covers, then visit this page.

This course has been currently accepted by 5 Local Enterprise Office Areas as suitable for the Trading Online Voucher but you can also get this training directly. Check out all the lovely testimonials I have received regarding this course here.

Conclusion

With the remaining few weeks of August I'm now based at home, rather than the office so I can spend as much time as I can with my daughters. With my eldest returning to Secondary school as a 2nd Year and my second entering 5th Class in Primary it's all going to be fraught with changes and they need some more time with me! However, work has continued throughout the holidays and I've even grabbed a couple of weeks off too.

I hope you're getting time with your family and making time for some self care too. Take care and I'll bring you up to speed again in September. Please contact me if you need anything!
